PILATSKY, FRED J., age 93, of North Cape May passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home. Fred was born in Bronx, NY; but has been a Cape May area resident for over 50 years. He is the son of the late Louis and the late Mae (Cohen) Pilatsky. Fred was a World War II Veteran receiving numerous medals for his service. He received a letter of commendation from President Harry Truman for serving in the Pacific during the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. He was also a Vietnam Veteran where he once again earned numerous medals. Fred retired from the US Coast Guard in 1974 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO-4) 32 years of service. He later worked as a full time Landscaper well into his 80’s. Fred was a member of the USCG Chief Warrant Officer’s Association. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Theresa (Flery) Pilatsky in 1981. He is survived by his son Frederick Pilatsky of North Cape May, his son Thomas (Heather) Pilatsky of North Cape May, and his daughter Theresa (Roy) Olsen of Villas, NJ. Also surviving are: 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
