LARSON, MATTHEW R., 38 years old, passed away suddenly in his sleep on 2/19/17. Matt was born in New Bedford, MA on October 20, 1978 and moved to Cape May Court House in 1987 with his family.
He is survived by his loving parents, Donna and Timothy Tyson of Swainton, NJ, his sister Tracey Brennan, her husband Rick and nephews Ty and Sam. He is also survived by his young son Bentley Gray, who he loved dearly. Matt was the grandson of the late Gilbert and Arlene Larson of New Bedford, MA and Lenora and Joseph Tyson of Fairhaven, MA. He has many loving family members. His aunts and uncles James and Terry Larson, Peter and Natalia Larson, Paul and Kathy Larson, Judy and Henry Bernier, Tom and Barbara Tyson, Patricia Tyson and many cousins who he loved deeply. He was predeceased by his uncle, Alan Tyson. Matt also leaves behind his soulmate and companion, Jenny Rittersbach and her son Brehnam.
Matt graduated from Middle Township High School and attended ACMC Culinary School. He was passionate about food and cooking and worked in the restaurant industry since he was 15 years old. He had become an accomplished chef who worked in many of the CMC restaurants as well as in Delaware and Maryland. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served overseas in Kuwait. He served his country proudly and took great offense to the misuse of our flag. He was an advocate for homeless and disabled veteran's awareness. Matt was an avid Patriots fan which drove his Eagles friends crazy.
Matt was a man who loved with his whole being and was loved by all who knew him. He had a big heart and would give anything to a friend in need. He had a special love of cats and had two long term companions who loved him unconditionally: Oreo, the one-eyed wonder cat, and Brodey.
Matt will be sorely missed and the love people felt for him will never go away. The world was a much better place because of him. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
